Earth Air Fire Water
Earth Air Fire Water
Frequently asked questions
YES!! I make my own henna. I have both a House henna, and a Lavender-Only henna. My house henna is made with very high end oils, most often wood oils, rose geranium, frankincense, lavender, clove, and occasionally rosewood. The base is natural henna powder that is mixed with lemon juice. Then I add oils. Then I will thin it out with either rosewater or orange blossom water. Most henna artists use cajaput, tea tree,or eucalyptus oils. While these are wonderful oils and I have used these in the past, the oils I use are safest on all-ages and people who may be on meds. If you are sensitive to citrus, I can create a henna using apple juice just for you if I am given advance notice.
Lets say you want to get some henna.
You probably have an idea of what you want it to look like, if you do, bring pictures for inspiration.
Some people aren't quite sure what they want, that's ok!
I can help figure that out.
You will contact me and we will agree on a day and time to meet at the coffee shop. You will send a date-retainer to hold the appointment, it gets applied to your final cost. Its usually around $20, I will let you know after we discuss what you would like to have done.
You will get to the appointment a few minutes early so that you can get a drink if you want one and get comfortable.
We will gab about the elements in design you like, and I will create something beautiful for you.
Henna is like piping frosting on a cake. Im going to pipe the henna onto your skin, and it will feel a bit cold at first.
Henna has a cooling effect.
The design will now have to dry.
The time it takes to dry varies! If we are outside and it is humid, it could take 20 minutes or more to dry. If we are outside and it is dry, it dries within 10 minutes!
If we are indoors and you are cold, it could take 20 minutes to dry.
If we are indoors and you are neutral to warm, it will dry in about 10 minutes.
It is our body heat and moving air that does the drying.
Then we may or may not seal the design with sugar...it's not always necessary.
You will wear the henna for as long as you can.
4 hours is great!! More than 4 hours is frosting on the cake!!
Then you will chip the henna off over a trash bin. Do not wash off or apply water!
Do not get henna near pets. It is unsafe for all animals due to essential oils.
The henna stain will be light and orange. It now needs to oxidize.
To get dark, it will need air.
Do not get the new stain wet for as long as you are able to. Be realistic.
The longer fresh air gets to the new stain, the darker and more saturated the color will be.
Henna designs take 24-72 hours to darken. Everyone is different.
Taking vitamins or medications can lengthen the time it will take to oxidize, but eventually it will get darker.
Some people get a red color. Most get a brown color. It all depends on your chemistry that day!
To keep the design for the longest time, you need to avoid exfoliation.
No swimming in pools. No long exposures to water. No sugar scrubs.
No moisturizers that have exfoliants in them like vit c or hydroxy acids.
No mineral oil or petroleum products.
We can discuss any and all questions you have at the appointment.
Henna appoints should be relaxing.
My space is safe. You can talk about anything.
You can vent.
Or you can just use the time to meditate.
If your time is limited, let me know in advance.
We will get you henna'd in a timely fashion.
Parties can be booked on this site or you can text me your name, desired day and time, and party theme. I will respond to discuss what times are available and answer any questions you might have. Do not be afraid to ask questions, Im very happy to discuss. Casual appointments for hands, arm, shoulder, leg, head, feet are done in locations where I have expressed-permission to henna. Henna artists require permission first. I will henna at Starbucks on Nebraska, Starbucks inside the Tampa Premium Outlets, and Starbucks just outside the Tampa Premium Outlets. All 3 are located in Lutz Florida. If you would like a casual appointment but the henna will be a big one, we can do this at your home at my hourly rate. You should text me your name, desired day and time and a general description of what you want done...the amount of coverage. I will text back to confirm whether I can accommodate that day/time and discuss further. Everything is done through text first, as I cannot pick up the phone for every call. If you prefer a call, text first and I will call as soon as I am able.
Yes. If it is light coverage, we can meet at the places I have permission to henna in, 3 different Starbucks in Lutz. For heavier coverage I can henna at an hourly rate in your home. Travel fee may apply outside of Lutz/Landolakes/Wesleychapel. I specialize in Persian Gulf style but Im fluent in a range of styles. Please look over my Instagram or Pinterest to see if I am a good fit. You cant ask an artist to copy another artist's work without their style coming through somehow. I never want to disappoint, so its important to see what I am capable of. Artists aren't copiers....although we do try.
Yes. Love it.
The henna I use is a Lavender-only henna mix for safety reasons.
Tummies always stain lighter than the rest of the body
(think of us as starfish...the hands and feet stain dark, arms and legs stain medium, and the middle is lighter) but maternity henna extends to hands and feet as well!
I have an hourly rate that goes up every few years. Right now it is $150/hr . This applies to home visits, parties, and corporate events. For casual henna appointments and hennas that I do at markets or festivals, I have per-design pricing. I figure out how long a design takes to do and use my hourly rate to determine the cost. For instance, if my hourly is $150/hr, that works out to $2.50 a minute. A ten minute design is $25. I will usually guestimate a cost because when the henna design is being created, changes are sometimes being made. That is ok and welcome! Very detailed designs take longer than a simple bold design. When you want both hands to mirror each other- symmetry- can take longer. Pictures in designs like people, animals, logos, ect can take longer. Wrapping a design around a limb takes longer. Copying another artist's work definitely takes longer. Longer than WHAT your thinking? Longer than giving me an idea of what lights you up in a design, showing me the elements you like, and then letting me create something unique for you.
Sure! But my home visits are by hourly-rate so it makes sense to turn it into a henna party and invite some friends over! You would be surprised by how many people want me to travel to their house in the middle of the day for a small flower design that would cost $25. So many in fact, that I had to create this question. A hairdresser, nail tech, or MUA would not travel for less than an hourly-rate so that their time is compensated...I hope everyone understands.
Short answer is no.
Long answer is that most artists are not interested in copying a design found on the internet and placing it on an area of your body that will not stain well so that you will be disappointed by how much you spent for a light stain. When you are disappointed, we are disappointed. Henna artists want to create art and make you happy. We know what parts of the body stain well, and what parts don't. Most don't enjoy coping logos or other people's art. There are def artists that will do this though. Im not one of them.
Short answer: sometimes. Long answer: Many people ask me to come to their grand openings to offer henna. If its a grand opening, its likely you are using entertainment to gain you traffic that you don't yet have.
The integrity-move is to pay an artist their hourly-rate and offer that to potential clients at your new business as a thank you for coming to your grand opening.
The I-didnt-think-it-through-move is to ask an artist to hang out hoping someone will come to your grand opening and pay them for artwork. Very uncool .
If you want me at your grand opening, you can hire me at my hourly rate and I promise to not disappoint your potential customers.
I have been entertaining for 15+ years and I love people and social events!
If you contact me to do your market, Im assuming its at no cost to me.
I love markets with decent traffic and promise to not disappoint!!
Please do not contact me to ask me to pay you to be at your event.
THAT IS SOLICITING.
Uncool.
I do set up at markets that allow me to set up for free, often in exchange for free henna or tarot.
Definitely contact me for that!
The markets I do currently love me in their circuit because I offer free henna to other vendors and organizers... I am very social and speak highly of my vendor families! I want them to do well and make sure to participate in tagging them and talking them up when appropriate and accurate.
Vendors look forward to doing events with me I'm told.
I love hearing that.
If this sounds like you, contact me using the contact form or text.
I will evaluate if the date and time of your market fits in my schedule and if my services make sense for the theme of your event.
I want you to do well too!!
No. If you are more than 10 minutes late for a casual appointment, we will need to reschedule. The date-retainer is not refundable and will not be applied to another appointment.
You will require another date-retainer for the next appointment.
The date-retainers protect me from losing time with other clients, the gas and time I took to set up, and is often not enough to cover work I might have missed out on.
If you do not contact me to tell me you will be late, rescheduling may not be an option, and you will forfeit your date-retainer.
Please do your due-diligence and make sure I am a good fit for your event. Research my style and skill-set to see if its what you like. Ask questions. If your event gets cancelled for any reason, the date-retainer is forfeited. I expect full payment before services or occasionally after your event, as discussed. I do not bill.
Not mine.
I have been reading tarot on and off since I was 16.
My belief is that our lives are trending in certain directions that can be altered or changed if we put enough attention on them and where we want to be.
If I am reading your tarot, know that I request from your Guides, higher-self, God, and your ancestors that any information that you are ready to be aware of come through just before I read.
Whatever comes through was supposed to.
Contrary to what anyone tells you, the cards don't have power.
They are an alphabet used to communicate what your attention is on and themes. This is a co-creative process. Together we interpret them.
With this said, the cards often relay the ruts we are and how to get out of them. How we can move energy that is stagnant, what is in the way of love, money or health... and the answers are always unique to person asking and how ready they are to hear the answer.
We don't get answers to questions we are not asking.
Death cards do not mean physical death, devil card does not mean THE devil, tower card does not mean your house has caught fire, ect.
You can ask at any time for a 1 card sample to catch the vibe.
Fast 3 card reads are a fun way to explore this art form.
Takes about 10 minutes. Parties are a fun way to introduce it.
Longer reads are available to those who know what to expect.
